PORTFOLIO - COVER PAGE

Tim Mogavero

The pieces that follow, I think , show some of my best work in this class. I chose these because they all mean something, in some way, they were not just written, to get done.

The one called "School" I chose mostly because it works like a poem, it has a rhyming scheme, and I thought , as a poem it works great.

The better poem, called "Water" is another that shows my work. I like this one because I thought the conflicting stanzas and lines make it more interesting.

School

The carpet is blue like a stormy sky
The desks scattered like stars in the night

The blackboard glares from the front of the room
To lure your attention to a sleepy gloom

The gum in the corners
Like tacky art

Shelves stacked in the rooms
Like a warehouse it's not.

Water

Dear Water,
You are a very powerful source.
You are strong and can kill but at the
same time you are gentle, peaceful, and
crazy. If something tries to stop you, you
go over it, or around it. But
then your power shows your anger and
you take out your barrier
taking so much with you.
Amazed.

NIGHT

The sky hangs dark in the middle of the night
The stars are scattered like shattered fragments
The trees take control of ground like parents
The taste of the wind brings life to new height
On the grass, the dew shines bright in the light
Inside they are sleeping inside the tent
The water moves down making it new sense
Now everything is working, working right.

Why is everything so perfect at night
Or does everything work at all the time?
Do trees control how the water runs bright?
Will ever things work so right in the night?
Will things work together to make a nice rhyme?
Will rhymes make good lies to go against time?

Tim McGraw
Set This Circus Down

Like all of Tim McGraw's music, this album is very good. There are many good reasons for this. It's not because it's country, because not all country is as good as this, it's more so because of the way the songs build up, the guitar solos, the drums, and the different styles within the style of country.
Some might say this album is rocked up too much, and it shouldn't be called country. But althoughit does have some crazy drum beats and guitar solos it still has those country intruments, like the fiddle, the steel guitar, audible lyrics and more acoustic instruments.

Tim, great poems! Your first one is cool. I could really picture a class room in the eery way you mentioned it. Your second poem is neat. I like how you wrote to the water. Your last poem is interesting, but it goes over my head. Sorry. My grading rubric is: A - awsome, G - good, N - needs some work. You get a G+. - Andrea

Tim, your first piece is great. I really enjoyed the facts I never really though of school like that. But, what you said was all true. The second piece was mind blowing. It really caught my attention. I really enjoyed your work. The last piece was nice also. I love the Dickie Chicks and Leann Wolmack. But, I really enjoyed reading about Tim McGraw. It really shows your love for instruments. My grading scale is as follows: A for Admirable, W for Worthy and S for Sinister. Overall I feel your first piece deserves a A+, your second piece deserves a W, your third piece deserves a W- and the forth piece deserves a W+ also. Good Job Your evaluator Crystal

Hi. Mr. McGonegal here. This is your portfolio evaluation. Do you remember what I use for an evaluation scale? An "AW" for AWARD WINNING, a "P" for PUBLISHABLE, or a "p" for PASSING. Your first piece: P. Your second piece:p . Your third piece: p. Your fourth piece: p. Overall, your portfolio represented some of the good work you did this quarter. You've got a great sense of humor and a keen rhythm, Tim. It was a pleasure writing with you this quarter, and I hope you will keep writing and stop by trueteacher.com to see what your successors are writing for "found poems," "criminal mind" stories, and travelogues. Best, Mr. M.
