there i was on that hot day in the back seat of the car strapped into my car seat half sleep, when i heard my father said "we're here, and there it is our new house.'' i walked in to the house there were huge walls and sleek floors that appeared to be made of gold. the stairs like mountains high and hard for me to climb but i loved it. i had my own room for the first time and it was great, it was my own castle. it was my playground, even when my mother wasnt there i could hear her voice lingering in the air saying "Tyrone stop running in the house."

i believe my first house was american to me because symbolized what this country stands for, freedom. i had my own room now and i didnt have to share with anyone else. ny house was also american because we were the average american family proud of what we were, American.

this house was significant to me in many different ways for many different reasons.my first house was important to me because it moved me closer to my cousin and we were able to play everyday and i always had someone to play with. meeting and making new friends and always having someone to play with played a big part in my first being important to me because when i moved from there my house after wasn't at all in a neighborhood with kids. the house was important to my family because it was a safer and better place to raise me and my siblings.

I have a pretty big backyard at my house and my garage sits out a little ways behind my house because of my extended driveway and there is another yard behind that and that it what I chose as my “secret place”
for this essay.  The area behind my garage is approximately fifth-teen square feet and there are a few trees. I chose this area because this is a place that I’m very familiar with and that I know I do go sometimes when I want to be alone and think about things.  The area doesn’t have much involvement with any living things no one usually goes back there other than me.
Today is a very cold day, cold but dry as the wind thrashes across my face like a whip and the sun shining so brightly, but not enough to over come this cold spell. The leaves in their respected places perfectly as if nature put them together as one would a puzzle. As each day gets colder I see less and less birds as they all head down south for the winter.  Although there are many things that I see in my “secret place”, there is one thing that really catches my eye and it’s a flower. A flower, purple in color, but not sure exactly what kind it is, but it is a great example of what every person should be, strong willed.  When something doesn’t go exactly right we shouldn’t just give up but we should come back and try again, just like this plant every year it comes back even after it’s beaten up by cold air and winter snow. If we were more like this plant we could all be more successful and when we get knocked down we can get back up.  It is day two and the cold weather hasn’t let up at all I find myself day to day and week to week adding another layer on when I bundle up and prepare for the weather.  The leaves crunch under my feet more and more each week as the leaves fall off the tree and the winter season progresses.  There are many trees in the “secret place,” but there is one particular tree that I see in my “secret place” that I find interesting. It is very strong and sturdy, but when I look closely I notice the bark of the tree and the colors, shapes, and its specifics.  I look closely and I notice the colors, I notice that it is gray with a mix of green from a little, fungus that has formed on the tree from the constant change in climates.  If I didn’t know any better I would think that this tree to its thickness it would be the oldest, which is possible but it may not be true as I take notice of the rings on the inside of the tree and it shows that the tree has been around for a very long time and could possibly be older.
Today feels like it is definitely the coldest day so far not to mention the wettest due to the heavy rain which is soaking my clothes and giving me chills as it seeps through my clothes and my shoes and soaking everything.  As the weather worsens I have to find ways to protect myself from the harsh weather and I look around and I have to use my surroundings around me too provide for myself if ever I need anything.  When it is raining I have to depend on the trees although they don’t keep me completely dry I still have to use them as protection. I have to take notice of the types of trees there are in the “secret place” and use the ones that have thicker leaves and won’t lose their leaves when the winter season progresses so ill have protection the whole season.
Today is a very cold day, the air is brisk and in preparation I am bundled up in my many layers of clothing to keep warm.  Shivering as the air often finds an opening and seeps through a piece of my clothing from time to time and sends a chill through my body, I still observe some squirrels that are preparing for the winter season.  I watch closely as one runs down from a tree and searches for nuts amongst the maze of leaves that lie on the ground all shed by trees and watch them bring each one back to a nest they’ve prepared off in a tree. As humans I realized from watching these squirrels that we can prepare for anything not just winter.  We should be more like them because so often people don’t prepare themselves minor things whereas the squirrels prepare for a whole winter season.
Over my days of being out in the cold as I took notice of what was going on in my “secret place” I wrote the observations down into a notebook and now I’ve transferred it into this essay.  Over the days that I observed I realized that there is a lot one could learn from its surroundings whether it’s a matter of self-reliance, a critique of nature, or advice.  I learned that we can learn to have a little or even a lot more drive or how we can better prepare for our situations to come rather than being unprepared and paying a price. In all nature can be a great experience and a person can learn a lot if they try too. My essay the fourth topic is boxing and why and how it is an American sport.  I will be speaking some of the greats of the sport over time from past to present and their views on the sport. So many people look at the sport of boxing as a violent sport that they is uninteresting to watch because its nothing but people fighting with gloves on, but the sport is more than just two men pounding on each other. Boxing is an entertaining sport and can be considered an American sport because of its long history into the past in the American society. There are many icons in the history of boxing that also themselves stand as American more than the sport does, people such as Muhamad Ali,Joe Frasier,George Foreman etc these people were icons of the American society and also of the sport. These people stood for more than just violence and anger through gloves they were representing America when they fought people from other ountries, states, towns, and areas just as America did in history in different wars.  we fought World Wars with other countries and we fought wars with other cities in civil wars and there were battles within towns.
The boxers dont make the sport what it is at all they only play it, its the blood that is shed its the hard work its the battle itself its the endurance the action of two men beating on each other the intensity that makes the sport what it is. In an interview Evander Holyfield and he's talkin about one of his upcoming fights and he says "that I hear a lot of people say that they' re gonna retire me, but I wont let that happen" these are words are words of determination and it shows that he wont give up or rollover for anyone.  This is American because even the United States have the same attitude he may get knocked down but he wont be knocked out just like the towers it set our country back, but we arent down and out.
