A couple weeks ago, sitting in English class I was force to dabble in the past and pull out a funny memory about a family member. After going home and sitting there for while it came to me. My little cousin has always been the person in our family that something funny happens to, so I thought about the funniest thing that happened to her while I was around. I came up with our trip to the hospital about six years ago. What I learned from this is although sometimes my family members pride themselves on being smart, it sometimes o.k. to make fool of your self, and have a good laugh. Also doctors should wear cups to prevent themselves from having to go to the hospital.

My cousins’ trip to the hospital was one of the funniest days of my life. Before I begin, let met not alarm you by letting you think it was something serious. We both had been there for our yearly physicals and some shots. At the time I think I might have been about nine because it was my second year in America. I was living with my aunt at the time because my mother and father were both still living in Paurt au Prince Haiti. After we had gotten our physicals, she was still over due for her shots so the doctor decided that he would give her a test to keep her occupied while they prepared her shots and analyze all our other results.

At the time she was only about four or five years old. First he started with colors, and then he asked about her favorite foods, lastly her asked her if she could count to ten. She looked at him as if he had just insulted her intelligence. Then she began to count one.., two.., three.., four …… taking a half second break in between each number, until she reach ten and stopped. The shots were not ready yet so the doctor asked “can you count any higher. She looked at him again and stood up and stretched up as far as she could.

One…Two…Three…Four… Until she realized that every one in the room was laughing at her. My little cousin had misunderstood the doctor and thought that by “count any higher” the doctor wanted her to stand up. She finally broke down crying because we were all making fun of her. She got her revenge though because she likes shots as much as I like school. I don’t like it but I know it’s necessary. When the doctor went to give her the fist shot she hit the panic button and punched and kicked like a bat out of hell. When the 6 of us finally restrained her, we noticed the doctor was crying holding his crotch area. We would later find out that he got a 2 day vacation thanks to her. From this story I learned that it is sometimes o.k. to just make a fool of your self as long as you have fun doing it.
